The Fry’s collection includes a number of three dimensional works and this small model dates from around 1946. Eileen Lucy “Tirzah” Garwood was married to Eric Ravilious from 1930 until his death in 1942.
Her daughter, the writer Anne Ullmann, commented: ‘Tirzah Garwood began a series of house pictures in and print and collage in 1945. The “Model of a Chapel” is an exact replica of the Nonconformist chapel at Hartest, near Bury St Edmunds.’
