Married to N B Marshall FRS, a marine biologist, she developed an interest in this specialised field of illustration and has written and illustrated eleven books on marine biology. The first book she illustrated, N B Marshall's Aspects of Deep Sea Biology (1954), was described in the Times Literary Supplement as "perhaps the most beautiful illustrated scientific book so far produced in this country."
