We will explore using different drawing materials, and subjects including town centre locations around Saffron Walden, weather permitting.

Drawing lies at the core of my work as an artist printmaker. I will show a range of drawings, ranging from sketches to more finished and polished work in different media. I always refer back to my drawings for ideas when making new work. My own images often include a still life element so we will start the day drawing a table-top still life arranged in advance.

I would like to encourage experiment with both subject and materials. I hope for a group of mixed experience and abilities, everyone working non-competitively from their own starting point and discussing their sketches during the day.

Starting at 10.00am and finishing at 4.40pm we should have quite a relaxed day though with periods of intense concentration.

A variety of drawing materials and paper will be supplied, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits!

Bring a packed lunch, a folding stool if you have one handy, drawing board and clips for paper, any drawing materials of your own you want to use, sketch books if you have them. Bring an umbrella if rain is forecast; wear something you won’t need to think or worry about; and maybe a hat if it is a hot day.
